Yaskawa opens new facility in Istanbul

Robotics Technology Center for Turkey

Following a series of new building and factory openings during the last years, Japanese technology group Yaskawa has now opened its new Robotics Technology Center in Istanbul. Yaskawa has founded Yaskawa Turkey Electicity and Trade Limited Company and since then grew from 2 employees to today 55 employees.

At the official opening ceremony on 16 September a total of 10 representatives of the Yaskawa management and Automation association cut the ribbon to inaugurate Yaskawa Turkey Robotics Technology facility. The approx. 200 invited guests included Hasan Basri Kayakiran, President of the Board ENOSAD (Industrial Automation Manufacturers Association) from Turkey and Yaskawa representatives from all over Europe.

The ceremony was opened with various speeches of Yaskawa EMEA senior management team, followed by the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting. The opening continued with surprise shows by the Japanese drum team and a traditional Turkish team, continued with demonstrations of industrial robot demos, software solutions and motion control demos specially developed for different applications.

Bruno Schnekenburger, CEO of Yaskawa Europe said in his opening speech:” I am very pleased to add this great robot & technology center to our EMEA infra-structure. We are expanding here in in Istanbul because our very capable team of Yaskawa Türkiye convinced us with their professional work and we are sure this robot center is  the right thing to do for enhancing our customer service in Turkey.

Marcus Mead, Division President, Yaskawa EMEA Robotics stated: “I am impressed with the technical capabilities our team in Turkey. It is an exceptional team with great skills to support a broad variety of industries and applications; from Automotive over Packaging, Manufacturing and Handling to Welding. Both with traditional robots as well as with collaborative robots. We will continue to invest in and develop our team in Turkey to ensure that our customers in Turkey are able to participate in the technologies, products and solutions we are launching in Europe.

In relocating its technological know-how and production competence from Asia to Europe, the company, founded in 1915, is consciously acting against the international trend.

Employing a workforce of over 1,900 at various European locations, Yaskawa Europe GmbH with head office in Eschborn, Germany, recently generated annual sales exceeding 600 million euros. Approx. 300 people are currently employed at Yaskawa’s European Robotics Division, whose headquarters are located at Allershausen near Munich.
