Start of the year: The 12th European Engineers Conference (EEC)

On January 18 and 19, the virtual meeting of Yaskawa engineers from headquarters and colleagues from the country organizations (YCOs) was all about sharing knowledge. Thus, in addition to best practice suggestions for frequently occurring issues, approaches to solutions for recurring problems were also discussed.

In addition, training content on functional safety with Sigma-7 and the ASM7 option card was provided, and demos available at YEU headquarters were presented. A highlight of the two-day event was the contributions from the YCOs. Among other things, they presented how the compact SLIO controller can be used to crease, fold and cut cardboard boxes for the packaging industry in a single step. Also discussed was another application using components from Yaskawa: Robots, MP3300iec machine control, direct-drive motors and Sigma-7 servo packs combine to create a handling application for packaging chocolate.

And last but not least, it was shown how the use of our servo amplifiers for electrical pitch control in wind turbines enables the turbine blades to be controlled electrically, as opposed to the usual hydraulic solution.

Continuous exchange between the Solutions & Engineering (S&E) headquarters department and the engineers in the YCOs is a high priority. Our colleagues are always looking to facilitate faster and better solutions, which is reflected not only in regular monthly reporting but also in the transfer of technical know-how to the engineering community in the YCOs.
