Positioning cylindrical objects
Overview
MotoScan is a useful tool to locate cylindrical objects for example for picking operations.
The scanning with a laser distance sensor is carried out by the robot moving in a linear motion. The scanned profile is then compared to an ideal shape, from which the software calculates the object’s actual position.
MotoScan has two additional functions besides the object positioning. “Measurement to real” measures the distance continuously to a Real variable. The “Search until” function triggers an I/O when the distance measured exceeds a specified threshold.
