Yaskawa’s new MOTOMAN SG400 and SG650 SCARA robots

Compact, robust, fast

Two new, compact SCARA robots have now been added to Yaskawa’s MOTOMAN portfolio. The robust new product developments MOTOMAN SG400 and MOTOMAN SG650 were designed for payloads of up to 3 and 6 kg respectively, and cover a working range of 400 and 650 mm. They are thus particularly suitable for applications requiring both high speeds and great precision.

The new SCARA robots achieve a repeat accuracy of 0.01 mm. Typical fields of application are the assembly of ultra-small parts, robot-based picking and packing, dispensing and feeding in the processing sector as well as tasks in the food, medical products and cosmetics industries. Small interference contours reduce the risk of collision and enable the robots to operate in a confined space. Internal cabling ensures reliable workflows and helps to reduce maintenance costs.

The 4-axis robots are driven by the extremely compact and lightweight MOTOMAN YRC1000micro controller. The performance and functions of the controller were optimized for pick & place and handling applications. Besides the usual functionalities, the YRC1000micro offers easy connection for external hardware and an extremely fast, high-precision motion controller. Furthermore, it is compatible with an optional “functional safety” function by which the working range and speed can be reliably monitored and limited.
