Yaskawa Makes Its Debut Appearance at the LIGNA

19. May 2017

Automation solutions for all sectors of the wood industry

LIGNA 2017 (May 22 – 26, 2017, Hannover Messe): Hall 6, D22

Yaskawa, which has been a trusted partner of renowned companies in the wood processing and woodworking industries for many years, is attending the LIGNA trade fair for the very first time. During its debut appearance, Yaskawa will showcase its new application portfolio. This includes efficient drive solutions and control technology for CNC machines, energy-saving and regenerative drives, as well as powerful robots for handling, palletizing, and pallet repair applications.

The current Industry 4.0 trend sees specific requirements in each market sector, for example custom manufacturing, customized solutions, or batch sizes of 1. The wood processing and woodworking industries are no exception. As Yaskawa proves with its exemplary solutions, these requirements can only be satisfied by consistently integrating automation components into machines and by ensuring technical consistency. For example, the new generation of Sigma-7 servodrives can be integrated into CNC machines using MECHATROLINK or EtherCAT protocols.
Yaskawa’s latest innovations offer machine manufacturers and system manufacturers effective system solutions. Not only do these solutions increase machine output, productivity, and efficiency, but they also consistently simplify and speed up planning, startup, and operation. The solutions are based on components with integrated and intelligent functions.
The Yaskawa exhibit will also focus on robotic solutions for the wood processing and woodworking industries. There are over 100 industrial robots in Yaskawa’s Motoman portfolio, and many of these robots are designed for handling tasks with a working load of up to 600 kg. For example, one Swedish IKEA factory produces a factory-assembled and flat-packed “Billy” bookcase construction kit every 6 seconds with the help of 18 Motoman robots. That is equivalent to 40,000 items per week. PalletSolver software is another automated solution, enabling Motoman robots to palletize standard wooden pallets.
