Hints for configuration
=============================================================================

Instal one of the above quoted GSD-files in the PC before the configuration.
Some Profibus-configuration tools, for eg.Siemens STEP7 (ab V3.2)offer functions
for the installation.
(Step7 from Siemens (>V3.2): In the hardware configurator, Extras->New GSD instal...)

Please refer to the documetation of the configuration tools for hints about
installation.

WinNCS (WINDOWS)
=============================================================================
Before calling up WinNCS, copy a GSD-file with a newer date from the
WinNCS-directory of the diskette into the GSD-directory of the
WinNCS-Installation.

S7 from Siemens (general)
=============================================================================
Problems with the parameterization of modules:
A slot number will be transferred to the System200V system with the parameter
data from analog and function modules. If this does not agree with the slot
number of the analog module then the bus-coupler will report
"Parameterization error" (red and green LED blink simultaneously).
With Step7 from Siemens (as of V4.02) the slot numbers are counted beginning
with 1. The bus coupler can be changed to this counting method as of firmware
version V1.09. by parametization of the slot numbering with
"beginning with 1" under (object properties) -> (parameterization).

S7-400 from Siemens
=============================================================================
It is possible to merge the digital inputs and outputs with the operation of a S7-400
so that the address area of the S7-CPU can be optimally used.
A double word (4 Byte) is necessary for every digital input and output module when using
the standard GSD. The digital modules can be merged with the help of the GSD-file in the
sub-directory \GSD\S7-400\.
The following should be observed with the configuration:

- Firstly configure the digital inputs
  (0 Byte DE...16 Byte DE, at "Slot" 0)

- Then configure the digital outputs
  (0 Byte DA...16 Byte DA, at "Slot" 1)

- Afterwards configure the analog- and function modules.
  In doing so, the order corresponding to the position on the DIN rail (from left to right)
  should be observed.

- In the parameters of the analog- and function modules the respective slot of the module
  should be stated.
  The slot number is dependent from the parameterization of the bus coupler:
  The numbering starts either with 0 (default) or with 1. (see
  S7 general, problem with parameterization...)

!! Due to its unclarity, use the above mode only when the address area !!
!! of the S7-400 is really required. !!
